Boise broadcaster KTRV has suspended its news operations, effective today, reports KTVB, another Boise station.
The station said in an announcement that it had to fold its news operation in order to keep itself running into 2012. “This is what we must do to remain competitive for tomorrow,” Bill Lamb, vice president of KTRV’s owner, Block Communications, said in a statement.
Twelve news jobs have been eliminated in Boise, effective today. Lamb said those who lost their jobs would be offered positions at other Block stations.
KTRV was a Fox affiliate until this spring, when Block ended its relationship with Fox, the Idaho Statesman reports.
